World Summit of Young Entrepreneurs Past Events

The WSYE has a rich and successful history that includes 9 prior summits held in four continents and six countries. Our past events have drawn more than 2,100 delegates, and created more than 350 joint ventures ranging from US$20,000 to US$35,000,000. We have learned from our past successes, and are preparing to host the most prestigious summit yet.  The following are examples of past Summits:

 

9th WSYE: Sao Paulo Brazil,  June 2004 - an Integral Part of UNCTAD XI

Highly select entrepreneurs were invited to take part in this summit where H.E. Rubens Ricupero received the Life Time Achievement Award in recognition of his contribution to brining people and institutions together to facilitate a freer multilateral trading system, enhanced mobility of trade, and shared prosperity 

 

8th WSYE: Brussels, Belgium, European Union May 2001 – an Integral Part of UN LDC III

“A New Way Forward: International Joint Venture Opportunities Through Export Market & Digital Collaboration”

  • 250 young entrepreneurs from over 49 countries participated in hands-on training sessions, received interactive toolkits and pursued knowledge networking opportunities.
  • 54 international joint ventures were signed in Brussels ranging from US$20,000 to US$2,000,000.
  • The World Trade University – created to define, shape, and influence the most timely issues of trade – was launched at the 8th WSYE, and gathered support from a wide range of public and private sector institutions, and the entrepreneurs

 

7th WSYE: New York, USA, World Trade Centre August 2000  – in Honour of the UN Millennium Assembly

“New Strategic Alliances for Shared Prosperity in the Network Economy”

  • 360 young entrepreneurs from 97 countries gathered at the Summit, where 167 joint ventures were established ranging from US$70,000 to US$35,000,000. Interactive workshops occurred simultaneously at the venue, and via web casts

 

6th WSYE: Lyon, France, November 1998 –  an Integral Part of UNCTAD Conference on Partners for Development

Partnering for Success in the Global Markets: An Integral Part of UNCTAD Conference”

330 delegates from 117 countries attended the summit where 87 joint ventures were initiated involving small and medium enterprise.

 

5th WSYE: San Jose, Costa Rica, January 1997 – Summit 77 – an Integral Part of Conference of UN G-77 and China 

“Group of 77 Countries: A Programme in Active Partnership with the UN South-South Conference on Trade, Investment & Finance”

  • Over 200 delegates from 65 countries participated in 5 interactive workshops and exposition
  • 25 joint ventures were initiated
